Photos...BEFORE Digital!

Hey Scrappers! So today I decided to go digging for some treasure! I was looking for pictures in my parents crawl space from when I was little. I've looked for them many times before and never found such photographic evidence that my brothers and I ever existed but this time I was determined. After a little digging I hit jackpot. I found two big storage tubs full of pictures. Now this is before digital photography when you didn't have a whole lot of options for taking pictures and when you ordered prints you ALWAYS got at least doubles if not triples! After two hours or so of just sifting through everything, I feel very overwhelmed but kind of in a bad and good way. A bad way because I feel like there is soo much stored in those tubs and in a good way because my mind is just racing with ideas of what to do with all these pictures! So the plan is, to pick out some pictures for the projects I'm currently working on and then when the photo organizers at Hobby Lobby go on sale I'm going to sort through and try to organize them. I think that would be a nice thing to do for my parents before I leave. I also want to try to scan a bunch of them onto my computer so that when I start working on things this summer, I will have access to the pictures without bugging my parents or giving them a tip off to any secret projects! So that's what I'll be working on for awhile! It needs to be done and I'm happy to do it!
So until later, SB

Slow and Some What Steady Progress

Well, it's been a while since I've update my progress on my 101 goal challenge and the reason for that is while I'm getting a few things accomplished the progress is slow. I did finish reading The Magician's Nephew for goal #16. It is the first book in the Narnia series. I was quite surprised because it gives some background as to how Narnia was created and a few of the other characters that isn't in the movie. I can't wait to read the next book to see how it compares to the movie. Since I have finished that book I picked up the first book in A Series of Unfortunate Events.

(#6) I have started working on an album for Mom and Dad about my wedding. It's more like a big mini album but the mini is made and what I need to do now is cut some journaling tags and photo mats with my Cricut, print photos, and embellish.

(#40) Blogging is going a little slower than I had hoped. I wanted to post twice a week and I think the problem is that it takes me a little longer to do my projects and it takes time to take pictures and post them. What I'm thinking of doing to make the blogging a little easier is to maybe do little posts about my favorite links and websites or about some of my favorite product/tools. It looks like I've been blogging at least once a week so I hope these littler ideas will help me post more frequently.

(#41) I am a little frustrated with goal #41 not because it's difficult to carry out or anything but I'm really struggling with the lack of responses. In March, I was looking for some feedback on doing a USTREAM show and only one person responded. So now I'm trying to figure out if it was the post that was lame or the prize that I was offering. So I'm not sure if I will keep offering givaways on my blog if I can't encourage any participation. My January contest was kind of a flop too. I picked 3 winners and only 1 got back to me. It makes me wonder if the people who are following me really read my blog or just followed out of kindness or as part of a swap requirement. Sorry for the rant...done now!

(#53) I'm not sure exactly how many but my follower numbers are up! I think around 35 :)

(#85) I am still going to church regularly. It's even easier now that we're in the season of Lent and there are two times a week to worship!

I think that's all the updates for now. I have been sick the last few days so I am hoping that as soon as I start feeling better I can really start checking of more goals! SB

Update #1, #2, #50, #84

Well I've been busy and I've finally found sometime to blog about it!

First up is an update to #1 on my list. Here is a lay out I created using some pictures of me and my youngest brother. The paper is all My Mind's Eye. I heat embossed some Tim Holtz Journaling tickets and the title is made from Basic Grey chipboard stickers.

Close up of the journaling tickets and my brother's crazy face :)

I made this pocket using a template from a scrapbooking program I have on my computer. Here's a little hint: if you print on the back side of the patterned paper you won't have to worry about the lines showing on your paper. The tickets I Glimmer Misted and put some oversized cloth brads through the holes.

#2 I finish a wedding album that I have been meaning to give to my pastor and his wife for about the last 6 months. Now all I have to do is drop it in the mail!

#50 I got my hair professionally colored. I had red low lights put into it. I wasn't sure I liked it at first but it's growing on me!

#84 I wrote in my gratitude journal twice last week.
Well I think that's all so far. I'm really proud of my work so far but I know I have a lot of work ahead of me so I'll just keep truckin' along! SB

Update #8 and #40

Goal #8 is to make 3 projects from every book/magazine I own and here is one that I have been working on the last few days. It is a birthday organizer. Have a look!

The paper I used from the cover is from a Paper Studio page kit and the blue flower is from there also. The owl is a My Mind's Eye Sticker while the heart is a Prima cardstock glitter sticker. I used my Cop-a-dile to punch holes in the corner of all the pages and used Tim Holtz chain to keep the pages together and adorned the chain with some ribbons and a charm I got from the wedding department at Hobby Lobby.

Here is a close up of the binding. I know the lettering came in a kit but I've had it torn apart for a while so I'm not sure where it's from but it worked perfectly for this project!

To make the inside, I used a bookmark template from Scrapbook Factory Delux program on my computer. I put text boxes over the bookmarks and typed in the month and number along the side. The paper on the backside (like the polkadot) is from My Mind's Eye as well. I printed the bookmarks on white cardstock but the front and back covers are chipboard for durability. After printing, I wrote the birthdays of my family in the corresponding month and date.

So I bet you'd like to know where I got this idea from, huh? Well, it came from my December 2010 issue of Scrapbooks Ect. Here is a look at the original created by Celeste Smith.

Also, goal #40 on my list is to blog twice a week and I blogged Sunday and today...YAY! Well, I'll leave you with this for tonight. I have a few more goals that are in progress that I need to start planning for! SB

#83 CHECK!

Well, today I completed #83 on my list which was to create a gratitude journal. Here's a look!

This is the cover. This paper is from a page kit from Paper Studio...way too cute! The flowers I grunged up with Distress Ink, Walnut Stain I think. I also misted them with Electric Blue Glimmer Mist. The lettering is from the Paper Studio page kit and the tag is Studio 112. I also went around the edges of the book with Distress Ink and misted the cover with Viva Pink and Silver Sugar Glimmer Mist.

A close up. I tried to emboss some white stems and leaves for the flowers but I'm just experimenting with embossing and I don't know if it was the embossing pen I was using or what but I just couldn't get the powder to stick. I also wasn't happy because the pen said it wasn't tinted but you can definitely see where the ink was.

Now that my Gratitude journal is made, I can work on Goal #84 and write in it once a week. Feels good to have one done already! Only 100 more to go! SB
